shabbaton insanity
here's a little story to wet your salivating appetites.
this past shabbos we pulled of one of the most amazing shabbatons i have ever been on (or invovled with).
twenty, yes that's correct TWENTY guys from the program came down to irvine in order leave their indelible mark on our small helpless community forever :).
Thank G-d it worked out amazingly. everyone came down erev shabbos and split off to their respective house - majoy props to the Friedman family and Rob for allowing so many bochurim to crash for shabbos - and then met back at mine to eat a bit before shul (yeah i made amazing wraps ::humble tone:: ;)).
after a beautiful service/ davening - GO TIFF!!! - we all trooped back to the T's aka my place - and sat down for what is going down in history as one meal to remember.
the alchohol flowed freely and with it the loosened tongues of bochurim were soon filling the room in a cacophony of debate on many different pressing chassidishe issues - and surprisingly not too much polotics ;). it was trully an incredible experience to witness - and be part of (no i wasnt drinking - duh :)). the camadarie was so warm and even those on different ends of the lubav political spectrum all enjoyed the night farbiing with my father - go RABBI T!!! - and major thanks is due to Rebbetzin T (aka my mother) for putting together a delicious meal right after a most hectic purim!
i dont know what it is but irvine definetly does something to people... some guys who almost never drink or open up too often were totally loose when they came. was really fun to see how certain people act when they drink and get into farbi mode - what i mean by real is not drinking just for the sake of drinking ;). thank G-d all of the boys behaved and on preliminary inspection there are no broken windows or walls ;).
shabbos day was a bit more down key (much to the dissapointment of some of the communities members ;)) as we were all exhausted from the weeks festivities, but fun non-the-less. irvine sure does know how to make a kiddush - not to mention the boys did too, especially when their kiddush took place before mussaf :D.
well i dont know if words can adequetly describe the feeling of the weekend. so alas you - the reader - who have not experienced will never know the true emotions i sadly attempt to place before your eyes. - that was a bit depressing ::shrug:: :D!!!
on other news tonight our second smicha test is fast approaching. the date is set for next week wednesday and thursday. tensions in the zal are fast arrising as is the beautiful humm of learning that echoes through my head day and night - i cant sleep! get out of my head. ahhhhhh...
wish us luck and pray for our souls (think the Rabbi is gonna try to make this a hard one ::shiver shiver::)
me again - i mean who else would be updating this blog? i hope its not you ;)
pics to follow soon hopefully
