One good deed is all it takes...
well for those of you who are not interested in any kind of moral lesson etc from reading this blog skip now.
for the rest of you here is a nice little story that happened to me today.
i was drag racing my car from one side of irvine to the next in my desperate attempt to break the record for the fastest time for matza delivery.
im going 60 and my mom calls me up and asks if i want to do a good deed.
i say sure - as im always a sucker for doing good for others ;).
she had just been to circle k (kinda like a seven eleven) buying little things for her teachers. the lady working behing the counter (whos name i wont mention) says she - my mom - is a mitzvah maker, and asks how do i (as in lady behind the counter) get on to your gift list?
my mother told her that it was only for her teacher and left, but knowing that i had the goods called and asked if i would go over to this lady and give her a matzah. obviously i said yes and put the petal to the metal.
i enter the shop and go over to the counter and tell the lady that she made it on to the gift list and i hand her a matza. she looks at me in total bewilderment and joy (lit. tears coming to her eyes - but no crying) and says "thank you so much". and in her excitement tries to hug me.
well we parted by saying shalom and that was that.
one thing which although i have known for a long time but now saw in reality is: that the smallest thing can help make a persons day. so dont just think that when you have the chance its just a little nothing so why bother? bc you can make a difference!
if this is how it works for a total stranger imagine what you can do for your friends and family = even if they wont tell you how much they appreciate it ;).
sure learned something today - and i didnt even have to open up a book ;).
me - i think im inspired!
