why i love LA smicha

we get to go on field trips in our program! thats right just like when i was in day school and hey it breaks the monotony of zal too.

after about an hours drive we were all set and rearing to go. good thing too bc the first stop was the cheese factory and we got to have an early purim party. they gave us hair and beard net, glasses, hard hats and coats for our costume party.
then into the factory we went. ready to take on any stray cheeses that may come our way. was really cool - although most of the actual cheese making takes place inside of machines - and watching how machines do all of the packaging is very cool.

next off to the egg plant (not zuchini - egg). no hard hats or special glasses here, but we did get blue coats and thick hair nets - they were really fun to (see pics for more details). alas no chickens were to be found here though (although it did smell bad enough) but many cool machines and gadgets. raw egg splitters which got rid of the shell but kept the yoke whole, hard boiled egg makers and splitters too. and the coolest was the egg picker upper machine that jb later found out worked on air, sucking up the eggs and then releasing them. technology is amazing.
oh and the plant is owned by my friends family (didnt find out about that until i got home though).

which brings us to how we got back. well major triangle situation. drove home to irvine for a bit to eat - love you MOM!!!
then up to LA for quick change and wedding. finally crashing into bed for some much needed sleep.

ps for the full story on downtown check out jb's version http://jbfreedman.blogspot.com/2006/03/escapades.html
